Special Educational Needs and Disability

Sometimes children in our school may need extra help in their work, or an adjustment to their learning environment or resources.

At Fishpond CE Academy, we want all of our children to be able to find a love of learning and be able to develop good relationships with others. All our staff work as a team to try and make school the best place it can be for children of all needs and abilities. If your child is already in school and you are concerned about their learning, please make an appointment with the class teacher to discuss your concern in the first instance.

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) is Miss Vicky Smith. Her job in school is to advise our staff team regarding special educational needs and disabilities as well as liaising with other professionals (e.g. Speech and Language therapist, Educational Psychologist, Behaviour support and inclusion team, Occupational Therapist and the Local Authority SEND team) to make sure we are putting the right things in place for our children.

You can also speak with Miss Smith confidentially if you have any concerns about your child.  She can advise on ways to help at home, and will work with teachers to find the best way to help your child in their learning.
